Schneider Electric Improves Packaging Automation System Performance with New Software Toolkit
Schneider Electric and ELAU enable customers to dramatically reduce engineering time and simplify diagnostics by embedding AC drives into the internal communication structure of the PacDrive automation system. A new software toolkit makes this possible by integrating the AltivarŪ 31 and Altivar 71 variable frequency drives into the PacDrive automation system in order to streamline system programming and advanced motion control.
The synergies of the combined Altivar and PacDrive solution accelerate the transition to modular, mechatronic packaging system designs that incorporate a much higher degree of efficiency, flexibility and affordability into advanced automation technologies. In these systems, the Altivar drives function just as if they were servo drives, providing diagnostic information to the controller. And thanks to the integration of the parameters into the machine program, if an AC drive is replaced, the new drive does not need to be re-parameterized. Instead, the controller provides the parameters for the AC drive, and commissioning simply consists of entering the address and the baud rate.
In addition, Schneider Electric's packaging specialists are able to provide expert, hands-on technical experience, co-engineering support and a complete line of power, control and automation products to packaging OEM's looking for a new electrical partner to help them break out of the status quo.
