Altivar® 21 Variable Frequency Drive receives global recognition its industry leading harmonics reduction in HVAC & Pumping applications

Schneider Electric was recently awarded the 2008 European HVAC Electric Drives Technology Innovation Award for the technology utilized in the Altivar 21 electric drive. The Altivar 21 is the industry leader in harmonic reduction for AC Drives for HVAC and Pumping applications. This award is given to companies that successfully develop and introduce new technologies, formulate well-designed product families, and make significant contributions to the industry.
Designed specifically for HVAC systems, the Altivar 21 drive was introduced in 2006. It meets or exceeds the harmonic reduction by traditional line reactors utilizing innovative power conversion design and reduced DC bus capacitance. Compact in size, the power rating range is 0.75 KW to 75 KW, which covers the full range of construction projects. It can also reduce noise pollution, through smooth and silent operation and offers many communication cards including; APOGEE FLN, BACnet, LonWorks and other available networks.
Altivar 21 offers:

  • Reduced harmonics without line reactors
  • Reduced installed cost
  • Proven quality and reliability (ATV21 has been in production since 2006)
  • Simple installation
  • Energy efficiency
  • Compact size
  • Motor noise reduction

Understanding Total Cost of Ownership Critical in Today’s Economy

In a panel discussion at the Spring AMCA (Air Movement and Control Association) meeting, Total Cost of Ownership was a leading topic for members of the group. Bob Gray, Schneider Electric HVAC Business Development Manager, discussed the critical nature of conducting a Total Cost of Ownership analysis to determine how to cut cost without sacrificing product quality. He believes that all manufacturers should utilize this process to find the best possible solution for their particular situation.

Bob Gray participated in the panel discussion “Expanding your Business in Tough Economic Times” where members discussed what their companies have done in the past six months to prepare for the next six months.  Bob was joined by Frank Forrest of Penn Barry, Mike Ramsey of Yellow Transportation, Mark McMichael of Consulting-Specifying Engineering Magazine and Economist Hans Zigmund.
