Square D Services infrared inspections are conducted by skilled technicians using state-of-the art digital infrared equipment. Infrared scanning makes it possible to conduct maintenance inspections on operating equipment without interruption to production or power by using a thermographic camera that registers infrared rays through a glass-like infrared window that is permanently installed in electrical equipment.

The unaided eye can only see discoloration of components. However, infrared testing can detect heat build-up. Installation of the H.VIR COMET window enables permanent access for inspecting electrical components without downtime or danger of electric shock.

Infrared scans have the ability to detect abnormal heat produced by electricalsystems which may indicate potential electrical problems, such as:

• System overloads
• Broken or oxidized wire strands
• Loose connections
• Improper grounding or unbalanced loads
• Incorrectly adjusted equipment
• Issues with inductive heating
• High resistance terminations caused by thermal cycling

Square D Services infrared inspections include a custom, comprehensive test report that contains test findings and recommendations for corrective actions.
