HVL/cc™ Medium Voltage Switchgear

HVL/cc 5-17.5 kV Metal Enclosed Switchgear now available with a
1200 A Continuous Current Rating, Web-enabled, and H.VIR Comet Infrared Inspection Window.

HVL/cc remains the smallest footprint in the industry. Now with increased ampacity for distribution switchgear, HVL/cc excels with a 1200 A continuous current rating at 5-17.5 kV, no maintenance for switch contacts, and time savings since there are no ground bails, cables, or studs required for grounding. HVL/cc provides increased electrical and mechanical life packed with unparalleled functionality for this class of Metal Enclosed switchgear.

Packed with features like a simplified grounding system, maintenance free sealed interrupter, Infrared viewing window and UL certification, HVL/cc is set apart from the competition.

It’s the perfect switch solution for your main-feeder, main-tie-main lineups. HVL/cc is also perfect for applications like Petrochemical (also Class 1, Div. 2 applications – manual switches), Pharmaceutical, Health Care, Schools & Universities, Microelectronics, Food & Beverage, Commercial Buildings (with primary power), Automotive/Transportation.

Transparent Ready Web-enabled Power & ControlTransparent Ready® HVL/cc!

HVL/cc switchgear with PowerLogic® circuit monitors and Ethernet communication devices is a part of the Square D Transparent Ready power equipment family. When specified Transparent Ready, the power equipment is provided with a factory configured "plug and play" communications system that allows the authorized user access to equipment status and monitoring information using only a standard web browser.

With Transparent Ready HVL/cc you can increase uptime by capturing data at the onset of system problems, such as drops in system voltage levels and overload conditions in load current levels so you find and solve problems quickly.

H.VIR COMET Infrared Inspection Window now on HVL/cc—

H.VIR COMET Infrared Inspection WindowSaves money, increases uptime, and gives you the permanent inspection access to electrical components!

The optional H.VIR COMET infrared inspection window in HVL/cc enables permanent access for electrical component inspection without disturbing operations! Specially developed for infrared inspections, the window is made of a glass-like material that is transparent for infrared rays.

The H.VIR COMET window is mounted in electrical equipment and is ideal for installation in a wide-variety of electrical equipment, including switchboards, switchgear, transformers, motor controllers and control centers, generators and junction boxes. This product is an UL-recognized component for NEMA Type 3 and Type 12 equipment, and is available in 2-inch, 3-inch, and 4-inch diameters for either shortwave or longwave transmission.

HVL/cc Benefits:

  • Compact Design – Smallest footprint in the industry with plenty of cable terminating space in the 29.5 in. wide bay. Allows user to reduce size of equipment rooms for building space. Saving owner cost per square foot.
  • Compartmentalized Construction – Isolated bus, cable, and main switch compartments preventing inadvertent access to live parts while changing fuses. No need to add internal barriers.
  • Low Maintenance – Zero maintenance for switch contacts and over toggle mechanism (OTM). No lubrication required, unlike conventional metal enclosed switchgear, reducing downtime for routine maintenance.
  • Greater Switch Life – Increased electrical life with 26 full loads operations and 1000 mechanical operations

HVL/cc Features:

  • Ground Switch – This simplified grounding system is designed to ground the load side of the unit. Eliminates the need to apply ground bails, studs, and cable clamps saving the user time when grounding a distribution system.
  • Sealed Interrupter – Contains any arcing inside the sealed interrupter filled with a low pressure of SF6 gas (5.8 PSIG). As much as twice the electrical & mechanical life exceeding the ANSI requirements.
  • Automatic transfer system – Fast switch transfer for duplex switch applications having main utility sources and alternate backup power sources. Cost effective solution using RCV420 under-voltage time adjustment relay and voltage sensors.
  • Infrared Windows – Specialized glass mounted on switchgear allowing preventive maintenance infrared scans without personnel exposure to energized parts.
  • Insulated Bus
  • Motor Operated Switches
