Heavy Duty Safety Switches
Square D heavy duty safety switches
are designed for commercial and industrial applications where maximum
performance and continuity of service is vital. Like our general duty
switches, they too can provide over-current and short circuit protection
when equipped with fuses. When equipped with either a factory-installed
solid neutral assembly or a field-installed equipment grounding list (some
exceptions apply), the switches are also suitable for use as service equipment.
Heavy duty safety switches feature:
- Visible switch blades with for positive "OFF"
indication
- Quick-make, quick-break operating mechanisms
- Dual cover interlock
- Color coded "ON" - "OFF"
indicator handle
- Cover padlock hasp and handle lock "OFF"
provision for multiple padlocks
- 240 VAC or 600 VAC maximum
- 30A - 1200A
- Fusible or not fusible
- Up to 200,000 rms symmetrical amperes SCCR,
utilizing appropriately rated Class R fuses and Class R fuse kits or
Class L, Class J fuses
- Horsepower rated for motor applications
- Spring reinforced plated copper fuse clips
- Tangential combination knockouts
- Enclosures available are NEMA Types 1; 3R;
4-4X-5 stainless; 4X fiberglass, cast aluminum, KRYDON; 12 and 12K;
7 and 9.
- Insulated, bondable solid neutral assemblies
- Wire terminations suitable for aluminum or
copper conductors

Special Application Heavy Duty Safety Switches

Cast Aluminum
Enclosures-NEMA Type 3, 3R, 4, 4X, 12
Ideally suited for heavy duty industrial
applications. Copper free cast aluminum enclosures with epoxy powder
coating inside and outside. Gasketed design enclosures are watertight,
corrosive resistant and impervious to dust, rain and splashing liquids. |

Fiberglass
Reinforced Polyester Enclosures-NEMA Type 4X
Fiberglass reinforced polyester enclosures
are watertight, corrosion resistant and impervious to windblown dust,
rain and splashing liquid. The molded fiberglass is extremely stable
in a wide range of operating temperatures and can withstand heavy
impact. Switches are furnished with hubs and equipment ground lugs.

KRYDON
Enclosures - NEMA Type 4X
KRYDON enclosures are compression molded of
fiberglass reinforced polyester, especially formulated to withstand
attack from almost any corrosive atmosphere found in the toughest
industrial application. Switches are furnished with hubs and equipment
ground lugs. UL Listed. |

NEMA Type
7 and 9
An enclosed automatic molded case switch for
use in a Class I, Groups C and D; Class II, Groups E, F and G; or
Class III, Hazardous Locations as defined in NEC Article 500. Furnished
with threaded conduit openings in both top and bottom endwall. Suitable
for use as service equipment and listed as "Raintight'' for outdoor
applications. UL Listed, and CSA Certified. |

Receptacle
Switches
Interlocked Receptacle Switches are furnished
with a factory installed 3 Phase 4 wire Appleton POWERTITE, Crouse-Hinds
Style 2 ARKTITE, or Hubbellock receptacle. The fourth wire is connected
to the switch equipment ground terminal and is not a neutral termination.
Interlocking linkage between the receptacle and switch mechanism prevents
insertion or removal of the plug while the switch is in the "ON''
position or insertion of any plug other than specified. |

Square D® MD50 Motor Disconnect Switch, Non-Fusible
The MD50 is a Pin and Sleeve Interlocked Switch Receptacle listed UL508 "Suitable For Use As A Motor Disconnect" switch and receptacle in one compact NEMA 4X enclosure. The MD50 is offered in 20, 30, 60, and 100 Amps units compatible with IEC 309-2 plug configurations.
