PowerGard
18-pulse
Class 8839 Type CPD Series B
Power
quality counts when you have to measure it
Schneider Electric’s experience and expertise in power distribution
and power quality measurement are combined with solid state motor control
to produce the Class 8839 Type CPD PowerGard clean power drives ranging
from 50 to 500HP, 460 VAC. PowerGard drives combine the harmonic mitigation
benefits of patented 18-pulse technology with the proven reliability of
the Altivar® 58 TRX power controller to form the perfect solution.
These
clean power (low harmonic content) drives maintain minimal AC line distortion
with high true power factor specifically designed to comply with IEEE
519 guidelines at the equipment level. This technology enables PowerGard
drives to achieve in excess of 95% cancellation of characteristic harmonic
currents. Other multi-pulse topologies vary greatly in design and effective
cancellation techniques and do not provide balanced cancellation of harmonic
currents.
A
cost-effective approach to harmonic mitigation
To offer a true cost-effective approach
to harmonic mitigation, Schneider Electric combines 18-pulse technology
for a high horsepower offering with the capability to provide a tailored
solution for small horsepower drives through the use of either line reactors
or drive isolation transformers.
