HomeLine Circuit Breakers

HomeLine® Equipment Protection Device (EPD) Circuit Breakers
30 mA Equipment Ground Fault Protection (UL Listed)

HomeLine Equipment Protection Device (EPD) Circuit Breakers are 1- or 2-pole thermal-magnetic circuit breakers with integral equipment ground-fault protection. Designed to protect equipment such as heat trace from damage (Class B per UL943), the ground-fault protection level is 30 milliamperes. HomeLine EPD Circuit Breakers mount in HomeLine Load Centers occupying the same width as the standard HomeLine Circuit Breakers and are wired the same as the HomeLine GFI (ground fault circuit interrupters).

In addition, these circuit breakers provide branch circuit overcurrent and short-circuit protection (per UL489). The EPD Circuit Breakers include a black test button to test the ground-fault circuitry, as required by UL. Pushing the test button tests the electronic sensing and causes the circuit breaker to trip, placing the handle into the tripped (middle) position.

The NEC allows the use of an EPD for heat trace, to prevent freezing of pipes, rain gutters, etc. Other applications include protection of equipment such as well pumps and other electrical equipment in the home or garage.

Key EPD Features

  • Designed for equipment protection inside and outside of residences
  • Equipment protection at 30 mA (not people protection at 6 mA)
  • Adds equipment ground-fault protection to branch circuit protection
  • One pole (120 VAC) and two poles (120/240 VAC)
  • 15 and 20 A at 120 V; 15 through 50 A at 240 V
  • Push-to-test button to test circuitry
  • 10,000 A interrupting rating (AIR)
  • Can be installed in HomeLine Load Centers
  • Ideal for use with heat trace, pumps, etc.
