Supplementary protectors are intended for use as overcurrent protection within an appliance or other electrical equipment where branch circuit overcurrent protection is already provided (by UL 489 device) or is not required. Physically resembling miniature circuit breakers, they are commonly used in OEM equipment downstream of a UL 489 device to provide protection of sensitive circuits within the equipment.

The Multi 9 miniature supplementary protectors
line from Merlin Gerin® is a modular system of circuit breakers, accessories
and installation equipment that makes up the most complete product offering
in its class. These miniature supplementary protectors provide overcurrent
protection in applications where branch circuit protection is either already
provided or is not required.
The C60N family includes 1P, 2P, and 3P versions,
with 0.5 through 80 A ratings, at 480Y/277 V, in B, C, and D curves. Their
small size (18 mm or 3/4 inch per pole) and DIN mounting make them ideal
for OEM applications.

The QYU is UL 1077 Recognized as a supplementary protector. It is provided in 1-pole, 277 Vac, and 10 through 30 A ratings. They are available for surface, flush, or DIN mounting.
