In today’s complex world of data management, vendors constantly require updated product information from suppliers. This is where data solutions such as Big Hammer come in. Big Hammer is a leader in hardlines data synchronization and content management.

Gone are the days where information must be entered onto spreadsheets in several locations for several vendors. Composed of three main components, Big Hammer is not an ordinary data collection tool. It is not only a certified GDSN Data Pool, but also a Hardlines Marketing Data Pool complete with images, product attributes, warranty information and everything else not collected by the GDSN. Finally, Big Hammer is a Private Data Pool which may include suggested retail cost and any other attributes needed to sell specific products in specific retail environments.

With all the benefits Big Hammer has to offer, it is no small wonder why Big Box companies such as Home Depot have required suppliers, such as Square D, to enter their product information. It enables them to have a single source management point for all of their suppliers as well as increased selling opportunities through extended retail channels including web, kiosks, and other retail publications. Square D is currently involved with Home Depot/Big Hammer and is already familiar with the process of entering and managing product data which includes periodic data refreshes and updates when a new specification is introduced.

Other companies such as Lowe’s have followed in the footsteps of Home Depot, but are not as advanced in the process. However, since data has already been entered for Home Depot/Big Hammer, there should not be an issue with updating information when Lowe’s begins to request data.
