Build your business: Leverage the tax credit for Geothermal Heat Pumps

Any Energy Star Geothermal Heat Pump placed in service between January 1, 2008 – December 31, 2016 is eligible for a $2000 tax credit.  A Geothermal heat pump is similar to ordinary heat pumps. However, geothermal heat pumps use the ground instead of the air to provide heating, air conditioning and in some cases hot water. Because they use the earth's natural heat, they are among the most efficient and comfortable heating and cooling technologies currently available.

According to the US Department of Energy, “A tax credit is generally more valuable than an equivalent tax deduction because a tax credit reduces tax dollar-for-dollar, while a deduction only removes a percentage of the tax that is owed.” They go on to state, “In addition to federal tax incentives, some consumers will also be eligible for utility or state rebates, as well as state tax incentives for energy-efficient homes, vehicles and equipment. Each state’s energy office web site may have more information on specific state tax information.”

The governments push for market demand will benefit OEM that manufacturers of Geothermal Heat Pumps with the Energy Star rating. Schneider Electric is positioned as a leader in HVAC industry to provide you with quality products and solutions that help you make the most of your energy.

Product Focus: IEC Rated TeSys® GV3P Manual Starter Protectors

TeSys IEC rated GV3P manual starter protector line controls and protects motors up to 50 HP at 480 VAC. The GV3P manual starter protectors are a cost effective alternative to fuses and fuse holders, and also can be used with TeSys D contactors to reduce parts and wire connections.

The manual starter protectors are UL listed and IEC rated for group motor installation and connect directly to
TeSys D IEC-style contactors, making them an effective way to reduce control panel size. The product also can be used as a stand alone UL 508 Type E self-protected combination starter with a short circuit current rating of 65 KA at 480 VAC.

The GV3P line shares common accessories such as auxiliary contacts with the smaller GV2P product line (for motors up to 20 HP at 480 VAC), resulting in less product inventory.
